Electron harvesting from photosynthetic organisms
Electron harvesting from photosynthetic organisms
The aim of this project is to reroute a portion of the electron flow circulating along the photosynthetic chain within microalgae. To do this, in addition to a collecting electrode, quinones are used as exogenous electron carriers. The challenge here is to conciliate viable conditions for the living photosynthetic organisms and a good electron harvesting efficiency (observable photocurrents). Accordingly, suitable electron carriers must be introduced, at concentrations remaining non-toxic for the algae.
